7303 Frequently Asked Questions
What are the new requirements affecting new teachers wishing to teach in the learning and skills sector?
From September 2007, all new teachers in the learning and skills sector (all post-16 education, including FE, adult and community learning, work based learning and offender education) in England will be required to take qualifications which form part of the Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) framework and pilot Qualifications Credit Framework (QCF). Teachers in a ‘full’ teaching role will have five years in which to meet these requirements. These qualifications will be required by all who deliver all “funded training.”
What is the 7303 Level 3 award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector course?
7303 is the entry-level qualification. It is a one-unit award containing 5 ‘sections’ which all new teachers to the lifelong learning sector are required to complete. The Award has a credit value of 6 credits.
Is the course aimed just at those who train first aid?
No, as a company we do a lot of first aid training but this course is aimed at all trainers. Previous students have left to train such diverse subjects as maths, Indian head massage, Adobe Photoshop, security, bomb awareness and health and safety.
Will I complete the entire course in five days?
Yes, by the end of day five you should have completed both assignments.
Can any of my previous knowledge be accredited for this course?
There is no real opportunity for APL with this, we have a lot of people who come through who have trained for years and need a recognised qualification. It is far easier, because of the assignments, to come along for all five days and get the course completed.
What subjects can I do my micro-teaching session on?
You can do it on any subject that you wish-clearly you can make life a lot easier for yourself by doing something that you may have already prepared and deliver regularly.
Where can I get more information?
Please feel free to call us with any questions. In addition www.cityandguilds.com has a lot of additional information.
