Maritime and Coastguard Agency FAI Course July 2011
Just thought id drop you a note to say how great the MCA First Aid Instructors course was that was held in the MCA training centre in Highcliffe on the 4th - 7th July.
The course was delivered expertly and in a very structured manner and everyone on the course agreed that Chris who delivered the course was one of the best tutors we have had.
His knowledge was very evident and that made for a very informative course that was pitched at the level of the learners.
I would like to personally thank Chris as I came onto the course having spent 3 years training First Aid for the MCA, and I can say the level of additional knowledge I gained was exceptionally high and the information gained will be invaluable and help me greatly in future course deliveries.
I look forward to working with yourselves on an ongoing basis as Chris portrayed your professional company image perfectly and for me thats what counts.
Best Regards
Paul

Feeback from the Sept First Aid and AED Instructors Course
Last week I attended your Train the trainer First Aid and AED course in London. Chris Mahon was the tutor. Having been a teacher for 15 years I am fully aware of the demands of training others and I also have very high expectations of courses I attend. With that in mind I just wanted to say that last week was a pleasure! Chris is an awesome instructor - clear, humorous and with a high level of expertise. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and felt that I had really moved forward as a teacher/trainer myself by the end of the week. He really did a fantastic job and I felt that my money had been spent wisely and I will definitely consider AID training for future courses.

First Aid and AED Instructors Course
- In-depth first aid knowledge-designed to give students the extra knowledge to enable them to train first aid effectively.
- Teaching and training practice.
Over the week students will complete the three-day First Aid at Work (FAW) course. You will be assessed and if you pass certified for FAW.
In addition students will receive training and advice in delivering and assessing First Aid courses. Students will also deliver four training sessions each in the course of the week. These will be assessed, and feedback given to the potential instructor, by a senior member of Aid Training.
On successful completion students will be qualified to train and assess First Aid courses for HSE Registered companies. In addition they will be able to run courses such as AED and Appointed Person - that don’t require HSE approval without any external help. It is important to understand that it is the “company” and not the “individual” that holds HSE approval-there is no such thing as a “HSE Approved First Aid Instructor”.
The instructor qualification may not be a suitable option for everybody, it is well worth contacting us for a no nonsense chat about it before committing yourself to this or any other instructor course. It may in certain cases be that you already meet the criteria to train HSE approved courses and the course may therefore be unnecessary.
Under current HSE guidance those training First Aid at Work must meet, as a minimum, the following criteria:
- Current, in-date FAW certificate-unless a Registered General Nurse, Doctor or State Registered Paramedic
- Training qualification and/or experience
- Background in first aid within the workplace
Full details can be obtained from the HSE www.hse.gov.uk
In addition Instructors must commit to maintaining their professional development. To aid this we have a schedule of First Aid Instructor Study and Training Evaluation Days >>
