Physical Intervention Instructor
Who is the course designed for?
The course enables qualified trainers to deliver Physical Intervention training, either internally to their own staff or as a public training course. Trainers attending this course must hold a minimum level 3 Training qualification (i.e. 7303) and a level 3 Conflict Management qualification (1886) and have suitable experience in SIA Licensable sectors. Those applying for this course will need to gain approval.
What does the course cover?
This is a five day course that incorporates disengagement skills (non restrictive physical interventions) and holding skills (restrictive physical interventions).
The course in delivered in two phases:
Phase 1 consists of around 5 hours of distance learning
Phase 2 consists of a 5 day workshop
What are the benefits?
You will be qualified to train others how to assess situations to decide whether physical intervention is necessary and, if so, the appropriate methods of intervention. Successful delegates will be certificated by Skills for Security and the Approved Centre will be licensed by Maybo SAFERwork Physical Intervention Trainer programme.
Once licensed, the Approved Centre acquires delegate registrations from Maybo. Registration includes delegate workbooks, a training record card, the registration fee and a joint certification by BIIAB and Skills for Security.
