Is the course HSE approved?
No, despite what you may have heard, there is no such qualification as “HSE Approved First Aid Instructor”. However, our course is in line with the current First Aid Approvals and Monitoring Unit (FAMMS), of the HSE, guidelines. It should be remembered that it is the individual training company that holds HSE approval and not the instructor.
Why is your course so much more cost effective than most other companies?
We believe in providing a value for money package. The cost of the course is currently £350 + VAT (it includes manuals, certification, tea/coffee and lunch). The cost is kept reasonable for the following reasons:
 |
We don’t train in very expensive venues-our venues are clean, functional and no-nonsense |
 |
A lot of the people attending are looking for a career change and as such are self-funding the course and do not want to invest large sums of money at an early stage |
 |
We make no secret of “head-hunting” from the courses-and as such recognise that it is a possible two way process-the student gets their qualification and we may find an instructor who can train for us. |
Why is the course five days long when some similar courses are only four days?
We believe that there is far too much to cover in four days. In an ideal world the course ought to be two weeks long!
Can I come and work for you on completion of the course?
We are always on the lookout for potential instructors. So yes, if you get a good pass and we think you are up to it there is the possibility of freelance training work on completion. However please remember that you are “on a five day interview!”
What support is available on completion of the course?
We pride ourselves on building a relationship with all of our trainees. On completion of the course all students are offered the chance to come out and watch one of our instructors training in order to gain experience. In addition you will be kept informed of all changes to the first aid regulations and protocols.
Do you provide training packs and other resources?
We provide a full range of high quality resources that students are able to purchase. They are not included in the cost of the course purely because not all students want, or need, them. Once purchased you will automatically receive updated resources, as and when changes occur, at no additional cost.
Can you provide support and advice on setting up my own first aid training business?
Yes, believe it our not, we are always happy to provide help in this area. This may take the form of a bit of advice on the telephone or more formal assistance.
Does the course qualify me to assess First Aid courses?
Yes, the course has an assessment module and on successful completion students will be qualified to assess first aid courses.
Does the course cover paediatrics?
Yes, the course has an element of paediatric training on it for two reasons,
so that students can train the two-day child carers first aid course & to
enable students to answer questions if they come up on other first aid
courses.
Are there any additional costs if I, or the company I work for, would like to run our own First Aid at Work courses?
Yes, there are some additional costs that you would need to factor in:
- A one of cost of an instructors pack-currently £250 + vat and postage. Unless you are prepared to put the time and effort into producing your own.
- Assessors, at present you will need two assessors, unless you or your company has other suitably qualified staff. It may well be that in the near future only one assessor will be needed for each First Aid at Work course. You could expect to pay about £100-150 per assessor.
- Unless you are HSE approved you will need to register and certify your courses through an HSE approved company. We currently charge £15 + vat per student for registration, certificates and manuals.
