How We Do Business
Track Record
Established in 1999, Aid Training and Operations Ltd has an enviable track record in the delivery of first aid and health and safety training. Organisations such as the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, Fire Brigades and the Police regularly use us for their training delivery.
Admin Support
Our training is backed up by a fully staffed office using the latest IT equipment. Bookings are looked after from start to finish by our dedicated administration staff providing a personal touch at all times. For large clients we use Key Account Managers to help build and foster a good working relationship.
We aim to have a booking fully administered on the day that the client informs us of it. This includes a confirmation letter and joining instructions/maps as necessary. We understand that sometimes things will change, for instance venues and timings – at all stages we remain flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances.
The office staff are more than able to handle most technical questions about the training and any legislation that appertain to it. In the rare case when they can’t they will get an answer from the training team and pass it directly on.
On completion of the training we will produce professional certificates for each student – these will be sent out along with an invoice – we aim to have these sent out within five working days.
All training is recorded on a bespoke Access Database that allows accurate records of the training to be kept. This allows us to inform you if somebody has attended training – and where and when that training was conducted. It also allows us to send reminder letters out reminding managers of when their staff’s certification is due for renewal. From this system we are also able to produce free of charge replacement certificates for those candidates who may have misplaced their original.
Training Team
We pride ourselves on using the very best instructors. Our training team currently consists of fifty staff – this includes both full and part time.
a. They all have a vast “operational” experience that allows them to train with “first-hand experience.
b. All instructors also hold suitable training qualifications, normally City and Guilds. Although we do not deliver funded training, we are taking the new government regulations for all teachers as being “best practice” and are ensuring that all training staff meet the new standards.
c. In addition all trainers are on a continual professional development programme which includes staff study and training days.
We recognise that first aid is a practical skill and as such a certain amount of time has to be devoted to learning the theory behind it whilst devoting time to the practise and application of the skills learnt-through role-play and scenarios.
All trainers have a complete set of training equipment including laptop/projector and mannequins.
At all times we maintain the ability to rapidly replace trainers who may not be able to attend training events due to unforeseen circumstances such as, illness and family bereavement. This is achieved by not fully committing the training team on any one given day – allowing spare trainers and/or the management team to step in at short notice.
Training Delivery
Our training ethos is based on delivering good common sense principles that delegates can remember and therefore use in an emergency situation. We believe that all training should be fun, relevant, inclusive and interactive.
The syllabus of all courses is based on current best practise and all training is based on HSE approved lesson plans. We are regularly monitored by the HSE to ensure compliance with their standards. In addition, we regularly monitor and assess our trainers to ensure the maintenance of high training standards
We aim to be flexible with our dates and timings, allowing the client greater freedom of choice. We are able to train at any time of the day or night 24/7 and are happy to split courses over afternoons, evenings and weekends. Although we normally operate on having at least four weeks notice of a booking, we can generally accommodate most “last minute” bookings.
Although we do have a cancellation policy we very rarely enforce it – rather we take the view that if training is cancelled or rescheduled it is very rarely done maliciously. The only occasion when we have ever enforced it have occurred when we have arrived to deliver training to find that no delegates are present. We would prefer to build a business relationship based on mutual trust and understanding and not to annoy clients with punitive cancellation charges.
All delegates receive a professional manual/workbook whilst on the course to allow for future reference.
All training is evaluated using Student Feedback forms. These forms are reviewed and monitored by the management of Aid Training and feedback and advice given to the trainer concerned. In addition managers and those responsible for arranging training are encouraged to feedback to us using a Training Evaluation Form.
Our training is mainly carried out at the client premises. Where locally hired venues are required we carry out a full risk assessment.
Training Review
We aim to deliver exactly what the client requires and welcome the opportunity to liaise directly by way of regular review meetings to ensure that we are still maintaining the stated aims and standards.
Insurance
We carry the following insurance:
Professional Indemnity 5,000,000
Product Liability 5,000,000
Public Liability 5,000,000
Employers Liability 10,000,000
