Safety and Health Practitioner, the monthly magazine of IOSH has published the results of a recent survey on Automated External Defibrillator (AED) provision in UK workplaces.
It showed that of the 1000 business decision makers poled – 513 did not have an AED.
327 of the respondents came from “small” business with less than 50 employees, 197 (60%) did not have an AED.
When they were asked why their company had not got an AED, 45 said it hadn’t occurred to them, 56 felt there was no need, 34 said they had too few staff and 31 put it down to cost.
Currently 30,000 people per year have a cardiac arrest out of hospital in the UK, with only about 18.5% surviving. Early defibrillation can improve survival rates by as mush as 75%.
Please join us to encourage as many business, shops, schools etc to get an AED.
To get things started we’ll provide half a days free training to the first of our current clients who installs one!!
Best regards
