I have just finished an (High threat ) FPOS Intermediate with Chris and I would like to leave a few comments.
Firstly I would like to thank Chris for a superb week. We have covered a ridiculous amount of info over the week and this is a testament to Chris' phenomenal background knowledge.
The Course
Well put together it covers a wide range of relevant info. Many courses teach broad brush skills and do not tailor themselves to a specific industry or environment. This course could not be more different. Chris has clearly spent time selecting key additional topics for high risk areas whether it be maritime, CP or door work and incorporated it into a fantastic course.
I have always struggled to hold down any first aid training but the manner in which this is taught makes it almost impossible to forget. The information was built up slowly and before you knew it you were performing Oxygen therapy, a thought that scared most of us on day one.
The Instructor
I am glad we were lucky enough to have Chris. Humour is his weapon of choice and being Ex-Navy he clearly knows the best way to deal with military banter. However saying this he was very patient and at no stage did anyone in the group feel overwhelmed by the workload. Unlike military courses where you knock off early because of the lack of substance on the course or the lack of imagination of the instructor, Chris managed to keep everyones attention until closing time.
His knowledge far surpasses what is needed to teach the course but for most of us on the course who had probing questions because we wanted to know more Chris was on hand to answer them.
The Equipment
A myriad of paramedic's and first responders weapons to play with. All the kit was in good working order and made us feel that we were being looked after by Chris and A.I.D. Training.
Summary
A superbly informative course run in a mature but relaxed manner by a fantastically dedicated instructor who does no end of wonders for your company's reputation.
I would love for there to be a small step up from this course ie: FPOS Advanced, however I would insist on having Chris as my instructor, much to his despair no doubt.
Thanks again Chris from our course we wish you all the best. Yes you should have "Come Ashore"
